1 Churchill Place is the first tower in the UK to have been built following the 9/11 attacks with redesigns to increase strength, featuring such security measures as extra cores to withstand an aircraft strike or additional air conditioning intakes on the roof to make it resistant to chemical weapons.
This building was built with slip forms by P C Harrington who set a British record of 156 approximately metres in 14 weeks.
One Churchill Place features a roof that is friendly to wildlife with grass and plants on the top to encourage bird life in particular around Canary Wharf.
J&P supplied the project with T-Bolts and Jordahl channels, in both sled assemblies and standard short lengths. In connection with the client’s engineers, J&P worked on the selection and design of channel for the project, in order to develop solutions appropriate for the situation described.
